Quantum programming: From theories to implementations

This paper surveys the new field of programming methodology and techniques for future quantum computers, including design of sequential and concurrent quantum programming languages, their semantics and implementations. Several verification methods for quantum programs and communication protocols are also reviewed. The potential applications of programming techniques and related formal methods in quantum engineering are pointed out.     

Process modeling and optimizing control based on sparse nonuniformly sampled data

<正> In this paper,a process modeling and related optimizing control for nonuniformly sampled ( NUS)systems are addressed.By using a proposed nonuniform integration filter and subspace method estimation,an identification method of NUS systems is developed,based on which either an output soft sensor or ahidden state estimator is developed.The optimizing control is implemented by replacing the sparsely-measured/immeasurable variable with the estimated one.Examples of optimizing control problem are given.The proposed optimizing control strategy in the simulation examples is verified to be very effective.

State derivative-free variable structure model reference adaptive control of linear parabolic systems

The problem of constructing a model dimensional parabolic system is considered in this reference adaptive control law for an uncertain 1- article. The controller designed here involves only the plant state but no its derivatives. A priori bounds on the plant＇s uncertain parameters are used to propose switching laws which serve as an adaptive mechanism. The exponential decay to zero of the state error with any prescribed rate is guaranteed by choosing a controller parameter correspondingly. Numerical studies are also presented to illustrate the applicability of the control law.

Interdisciplinarity: Potentials and Challenges

Interdisciplinarity, as a concept and practice, is reviewed and related to a recent article (Romm, 1998) in this journal. Authors advocating interdisciplinarity for social research and problem solving seem to have diverse, if often largely implicit, epistemological, and other assumptions informing their proposals. Romm (1998) develops and advocates a critical and reflexive orientation for tying interdisciplinarity to action research and related endeavors. For some academicians, however, interdisciplinarity appears to be considered a relatively unproblematic pursuit of merely selecting appropriate methods. Significant issues and questions concerning interdisciplinary pursuits, particularly in academic settings, exist and are briefly explored, based on the experiences and perceptions of the author. Basic structures and processes found in fields such as action research/science and management systems often seem neglected and very much needed for interdisciplinary inquiry and knowledge construction.
